The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 1,228,648 eligible Nigerians have successfully registered as new voters within six weeks of the commencement of Phase II of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
According to the Commission, the figure represents registrations completed as of February 13, 2026. The latest data shows a significant increase from the 884,737 registrants recorded at the end of Week Five, indicating growing public participation in the ongoing exercise.
INEC disclosed that the total number includes both online and in-person registrations. Out of the 1.2 million new voters, 673,124 completed their pre-registration online, while 555,524 finalized their registration physically at designated INEC centers nationwide.
The Commission also highlighted strong participation among women and young people. Of the total registrants, 696,891 — representing 57 percent — are female, while 848,066, approximately 69 percent, fall within the youth age bracket of 18 to 34 years. Additionally, 19,414 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) have been successfully registered during the period under review.
State-by-state analysis shows that Jigawa recorded the highest number of new registrants, followed by Lagos, Sokoto, and Kano, reflecting active engagement across different regions of the country.
INEC reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all eligible Nigerians have the opportunity to register, update their details, or transfer their voting locations ahead of future elections.
