Gunmen on Saturday morning invaded Aguleri community, the hometown of a former governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the gunmen engaged security operatives in a shootout which lasted for about one hour.
A resident claimed that both sides recorded injuries.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident but denied that policemen were injured.
He said the gunmen were cultists and 15 of them had been arrested by the police.
