2025 Hajj | Committee Reviews Food Services for Pilgrims

The Madina Feeding Committee, led by Alhaji Abdullahi Kabir, has inspected kitchens contracted to provide meals for Nigerian pilgrims during the 2025 Hajj.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by Suwaiba Ahmed, the Information Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

According to Ahmed, the committee, accompanied by the NAHCON Advance Team led by Madina Coordinator Alhaji Abdulkadir Oloyin, visited all seven kitchens assigned for the Hajj feeding operations. The inspection aimed to assess the readiness of the caterers, focusing on hygiene, food quality, and overall facility standards.

The team also evaluated cleanliness, equipment, and staffing levels to ensure effective service delivery during the pilgrimage.

During the visit, Oloyin met with contractors to address concerns about food packaging, noting that some caterers were using sub-standard plastic containers. It was agreed that all caterers would adopt a standardized packaging method.

Oloyin emphasized the importance of adhering to the NAHCON-approved menu and delivering meals promptly to pilgrims’ accommodations, warning that non-compliance would attract penalties.

Meanwhile, the accommodation committee continues working to ensure all arrangements are finalized ahead of the arrival of the first batch of Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for May 9, 2025.
