
A 24-year-old man, Okoli Chinaecherem, from Ekwulobia, has been apprehended for raping a five-year-old girl in Isuofia, Anambra State.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the young girl was sent on a brief errand. When she failed to return after several hours, her family grew concerned. Upon her return, she was visibly distressed, prompting inquiries and medical examination, which raised suspicions of abuse.
CCTV footage later revealed that Chinaecherem had lured the child off the main path into a nearby forested area, where he allegedly committed the crime. The footage provided crucial evidence, leading to his arrest.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to the act, confessing that he enticed the girl with a promise to buy her something before leading her into the secluded area.
Residents of Isuofia, outraged by the incident, played a key role in his apprehension before handing him over to authorities.
Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations and ensure justice is served.
