A 28-year-old man, Samson Onimeh, was on Friday brought before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly assaulting another man with a Coca-Cola bottle.
Onimeh, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing charges of assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Olagoke Adegbenro, the incident occurred on April 24 at around 5:00 p.m. in the Queen Cinema area of Ibadan.
Adegbenro alleged that Onimeh struck the complainant, Mr. Abiodun Egbemo, on the neck with a Coca-Cola bottle and punched him in the mouth.
The prosecutor stated that the offences violate Sections 351 and 249(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Magistrate Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦500,000, with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned until June 2 for a substantive hearing.
