A 40-year-old man, Wasiu Olabanji, was arraigned on Thursday before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly assaulting two railway officers.
Olabanji, who has no fixed address, faces charges of conspiracy and assault occasioning harm. He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
According to the prosecution, led by Sgt. Kehinde Olarotimi, the incident occurred on July 9 at around 10:40 a.m. in Ibadan. The defendant, along with others still at large, is accused of attacking two railway officials—Turner-Shaw Olanrewaju and Yusuf Adeisa—striking them on the head with a plank and a stick while they were carrying out their lawful duties.
The alleged offences are in violation of Sections 516 and 252 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Magistrate Adebola Adeola granted Olabanji bail in the sum of ₦1 million, with two reliable sureties in like amount. The case was adjourned to September 8 for hearing.
