Ibadan — The police on Thursday arraigned a 42-year-old man, Osholaja Oloyede, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly receiving a stolen goat.
The defendant, whose residential address was not disclosed, was charged with receiving a stolen she-goat valued at N50,000. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. David Adepoju, told the court that the offence was committed on Aug. 20 at about 11:30 a.m. in the Soka area of Ibadan.
Adepoju alleged that Oloyede knowingly received the goat from one Azeez Kolawole, aware that it had been stolen from its rightful owner, Mrs. Rofiat Riliwan.
He said the offence contravened Section 427 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs. Kausarat Ayofe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one responsible surety in like sum. She adjourned the case until Nov. 6 for hearing.
