The first inbound flight carrying 548 Kano State pilgrims who successfully completed the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage has departed King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, heading back to Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Nigeria.
The Voice Of the People (VOP) reports that these pilgrims represent eight different local government areas within Kano State, reflecting the wide participation of residents in this year’s spiritual journey.
Alhaji Lamin Danbappa, the Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, who oversees the welfare and logistics of Kano pilgrims, expressed satisfaction with the smooth and well-coordinated return process. He confirmed that all pilgrims on this flight were in good health and spirits following the completion of their religious rites.
“The welfare of our pilgrims has been our utmost priority throughout this year’s Hajj season,” Danbappa stated. “We are pleased to report that everyone is safe and healthy as they return home after fulfilling one of the five pillars of Islam.”
The pilgrims boarded the flight operated by Max Air, the designated airline responsible for transporting Kano pilgrims between Saudi Arabia and Nigeria. Danbappa also thanked the airline for its professionalism and support in ensuring a seamless journey for the pilgrims.
He further highlighted the efforts of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, the Federal Government, and relevant agencies in providing adequate arrangements both in Saudi Arabia and back home in Kano to facilitate the pilgrims’ comfort and safety.
“This is the first batch of several flights scheduled over the coming weeks,” Danbappa said. “We are committed to ensuring that all Kano pilgrims return safely to their families.”
The return journey marks the conclusion of a significant religious pilgrimage for Kano residents, who spent several weeks performing various rites, including the Tawaf, Sa’i, and standing at Arafat.
The Kano State government, through its Pilgrims Welfare Board, also ensured that pilgrims received pre-departure orientation, medical checks, and support throughout the pilgrimage to guarantee a spiritually fulfilling and safe experience.
As the pilgrimage season winds down, Kano residents eagerly await the safe return of the remaining pilgrims, who will arrive in subsequent flights in the coming days.
