A Non-Governmental Organisation, Arewa Social Contract Initiatives has urged the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, to vacate the ancient city in the spirit of peace and stability.
The group stated that the sudden return of the deposed Emir to Kano after packing his bags could ignite serious civil unrest in the city.
Speaking after summoning an emergency meeting of the 19 Northern States in Kano, the National Chairman of the Group, Sani Muhamud Darma, stated that Bayero’s actions negates the tradition of the Emirate Council.
Darma reminded Bayero that history would never be kind to him if he stood as the source of uncertainty and chaos which might consume many lives in the State.
In the same vein, Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has stated that the President Bola Tinubu-led government should be held responsible if any violence breaks out in Kano State over the ongoing tussle in the emirate.
Atiku condemned the Tinubu government for siding the newly sacked Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero by deploying security forces to accompany him into his place during the early hours of Saturday.
The former Vice-President in a statement he issued on X justified the dethronement of Ado Bayero by the Kano State government.
He also noted that the issue was within the influence of the state since Governor Abba Yusuf enacted the repealed Kano State Emirate Council law which consequently reinstated the deposed Sanusi as the current emir.
He said the action of the Federal Government contravenes the 1999 Constitution as Amended.
Atiku, who made this known in a statement on Saturday, warned President Bola Tinubu-led administration not to make any attempt to destabilize Kano which had been known for peace over the years.
