A 20-year-old security guard, Muhammed Hassan, has been sentenced to one year in prison for stealing armoured cable and diesel. The Jos Magistrates’ Court issued the ruling on Friday after the defendant pleaded guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos delivered the judgment, offering the convict an alternative: a fine of N50,000 or one year in prison.
The prosecution, led by Inspector Ahmed Labaran, revealed that the case was reported on February 24 at the Angwan Rogo Police Station by the complainant, Harunna Jibril. Labaran stated that Hassan stole an armoured cable valued at N85,000 and diesel worth N690,000 before being apprehended. The offence was found to be in violation of the Plateau Penal Code Law.
