Abia Government Flags Off Reconstruction of Key Rural Road to Boost Agriculture and Trade/Vop

In a significant move to enhance infrastructure and economic growth, the Abia State government has commenced the reconstruction of phases 1 and 2 of the 13.95-kilometre Onuinyang–Okporoenyi–Oboro–Ikwuano Road. The project, flagged off today, aims to strengthen connectivity between the central and northern senatorial districts, providing a vital link for tens of thousands of farmers to urban markets within and outside the state.

The road, spanning 13 kilometres, is designed for durability and is scheduled for timely completion. Once finished, it is expected to ease the movement of agricultural produce, stimulate inter-community trade, and foster social interactions among residents.

Governor [Name] reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to equitable development across Abia’s 17 local government areas and 184 wards, ensuring that no part of the state is neglected. He emphasized that projects like this are crucial for revitalizing the local economy and supporting the aspirations of hardworking citizens.

The governor also acknowledged the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Engr. Don Otumchere Oti, and his team for their role in driving the state’s road infrastructure agenda. He urged them to maintain high standards and ensure the project is delivered as planned, with no room for delays or compromises.

Beyond this initiative, the administration continues to expand economic opportunities for farmers and agro-allied businesses across various communities, including Nunya, Abam, Uzuakoli, Isuochi, Umuala, and Umuopara. The ongoing investments in road infrastructure signal a broader effort to facilitate rural development and improve the livelihoods of residents.
