The Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Mr. Christopher Molokwu, has called on the newly elected Executive of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, to prioritize the welfare of journalists in the state to boost productivity.

Mr. Molokwu made this appeal when the new NUJ Executive and stakeholders visited him in his office for an agenda-setting meeting. He assured them of ABS’s continued partnership with the union to organize more training sessions aimed at equipping journalists with the skills needed to excel in their profession.

The ABS Managing Director also encouraged the NUJ Chairman, Anambra State Council, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, to foster inclusiveness by involving those who contested and lost in the recent council election. He urged Dr. Odogwu to use his second term to silence critics and work toward the collective growth of the union.

Furthermore, Mr. Molokwu called on veterans in the journalism profession to mentor and support younger journalists, emphasizing that discouragement from experienced practitioners undermines the growth of the profession.

In response, Dr. Odogwu expressed gratitude to Mr. Molokwu for his unwavering support during the election. He explained that the visit was to seek the ABS boss’s support in achieving the union’s set goals and acknowledged the significant role ABS plays in advancing journalism in the state.
