The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP during the 2023 general elections in Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, has called on the police authorities to investigate how details of the interim report of an uncompleted investigation were leaked to the press.

Adebutu queried how the police interim report got to the media when the police had not completed the investigation.

The governorship candidate, however, confirmed the report that he sued the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, the Director of the State Security Services, Yusuf Bichi, and the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Abdulrasheed Bawa, over allegations of vote buying levelled against him.

The Media Director of the Ladi Adebutu Campaign Organisation, Afolabi Orekoya, confirmed the petition.

Orekoya, however, issued a statement, denying the allegation of being involved in a N2 billion vote-buying scheme, describing the claims as baseless.

The statement was in response to a report by some online media, claiming that during the governorship election in the state, the Ladi Adebutu Campaign Organisation was involved in vote buying.

Orekoya vehemently denied the claims in the statement, calling them baseless and a desperate attempt by the All Progressives Congress in the state and the governor-elect, Dapo Abiodun, to undermine their strong case before the Tribunal.

Recall that the PDP in the state had questioned the victory of Abiodun and dragged him and the APC before the election petition tribunal
