The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, has identified apostasy and the influence of false prophets as key challenges facing contemporary Christianity.
Speaking during a special service at the Cathedral Church of Saint John, Ekwulobia, where Venerables Ifeanyi Mgbemene and Henry Okonkwo were collated and installed as Archdeacons, Bishop Ezeofor lamented that the Christian faith is under serious attack. He urged ministers of God to stand firm in defense of the faith and resist forces working against the true word of God.
The bishop emphasized that God will deal with the wicked in His own way and called on Christians to live lives of preservation, cautioning them against compromising their faith through idolatry.
Addressing the newly appointed Archdeacons, Bishop Ezeofor reminded them that their elevation was not just an appointment but a divine call to intensify efforts in soul-winning and societal transformation.
As part of the ceremony, the bishop also inaugurated the Diaspora Archdeaconry in Aguata Diocese, charging Venerable Okonkwo, the newly appointed Archdeacon, to use the platform to reach out to Christians in the diaspora, helping them reconnect with God and their roots.
In their responses, Venerables Mgbemene and Okonkwo expressed gratitude to God and Bishop Ezeofor for their elevation, pledging to remain committed to their ministerial duties.
The service, attended by the Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese, Right Reverend Prosper Amah, and the President of Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry, Mrs. Chinyere Ezeofor, featured key highlights such as the administration of oaths to the newly collated Archdeacons and the re-acceptance of Venerable Emmanuel Ekejiuba as an Archdeacon in Aguata Diocese after taking a vow.
