The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has released the official timetable for its 2026 local government primary elections in Anambra State, ahead of the conduct of council polls across the state.
The timetable, approved by the party’s leadership, outlines key activities for aspirants seeking APGA’s ticket to contest for Local Government Chairman and Councillor positions in the state’s 21 local government areas.
According to the schedule, the primaries process will cover the sale and submission of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, and the conduct of primary elections. The party stressed that strict compliance with the timetable is mandatory for all aspirants.
APGA, in a statement accompanying the release, warned members against relying on unauthorised or fake timetables circulating online, stressing that only the schedule issued by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) is valid.
To ensure transparency and avoid confusion, the party said certified copies of the timetable would be distributed to relevant party stakeholders, including state and local government party executives.
The party leadership noted that the timetable is part of efforts to strengthen internal democracy and ensure a smooth, credible candidate selection process ahead of the local government elections.
Local government elections are considered critical to grassroots governance in Anambra State, as they determine leadership at the council level and shape political mobilisation across communities.
APGA’s release of the timetable signals the formal commencement of political activities within the party ahead of the 2026 local government elections.
