Anambra Declares Friday Work-Free Ahead of Governorship Election

AWKA — The Anambra State Government has declared Friday a work-free day for all civil servants in the state ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Awka by the Head of Service (HOS), Mrs. Theodora Igwegbe.

According to the statement, the work-free day was approved by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to enable civil servants to travel to their respective localities and participate in the election.

“The gesture is to encourage the active participation of the state workforce in the electoral process,” Igwegbe said.

She described the electoral process as both a civic duty and a vital contribution of civil servants to good governance and democracy.
