The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned allegations made by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) regarding a reported shooting incident in Edo State, describing the claims as unverified and politically charged.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the APC said the ADC’s accusation was an attempt to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension in the state. The party maintained that it had no involvement in any act of violence and urged political actors to avoid inflammatory statements that could disrupt peace.
The APC called on security agencies to immediately launch a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the incident to uncover the truth and bring anyone found culpable to justice. According to the party, politicizing security matters without evidence undermines democratic processes and public trust.
Responding to the APC’s reaction, sources within the ADC insisted that their concerns were based on reports from the scene and called for accountability, stressing that electoral and political activities must remain violence-free.
The development has heightened political tension in Edo State, with observers urging restraint and responsible communication from all parties involved.
Security authorities have yet to release an official statement on the matter as of press time.
