The Archdiocese of Onitsha recently concluded its Year of Prayer, a spiritual preparation for the upcoming Jubilee Year 2025, as proclaimed by the Holy Father. The Jubilee, themed “Pilgrim of Hope,” is a year dedicated to Divine favor and special blessings, with the global Church urged to prepare through prayer.
For the past year, the faithful have engaged in fervent prayers as directed by the Holy Father, culminating in a solemn event. Beginning in January 2025, Pope Francis will officially inaugurate the Jubilee Year with a celebration in Rome, while local celebrations will be held across archdioceses, following the traditions of the Church.
The Archdiocese also marked the event with a vibrant convention of choir members from parishes across the province, blending the spiritual and cultural dimensions of the celebration.
Speaking at the event, Church leaders expressed gratitude to God for the grace to complete the Year of Prayer and prayed for His continued blessings on families, the nation, and all attendees. The day’s celebrations were a meaningful prelude to the Jubilee Year, uniting the faithful in hope and joy.
