Armed to the hilt Security takes over Gov Mbah’s filling stations over failed attack

Joint security operatives have taken over Pinnacle Oil and Gas filling stations in Enugu following a foiled attack on one of the outlets by hoodlums on Tuesday night.

Pinnacle Oil and Gas is owned by Enugu Governor Barr. Peter Mbah.

One of the filling stations located at the Ugbo Okonkwo, Upper Chime Avenue, New Haven, Enugu, was reportedly attacked by some armed hoodlums Tuesday evening.

It was gathered from residents the hoodlums arrived in multiple tricycles pretending to be buying fuel before proceeding to spread some combustible substances, which they later ignited with gunshots.

It was further gathered the hoodlums also shot consistently into the air, dispersing many people, including motorists buying fuel to enable the fire to spread.

But, some armed policemen nearby who heard the gunshots were said to have promptly arrived the scene to repel the attackers who fled upon sighting them.

The resultant fire, it was gathered, which did not cause major damage, as it was quickly put out by the workers who used fire extinguishers to contain it before the arrival of the men of the fire service.

The development, it was observed, caused panic among residents.

Consequently, a combined team of policemen and military personnel were drafted to guard the filling station at New Haven and the one along Agbani Road, Enugu.

Our correspondent also observed that one lane of the Upper Chime road where the attacked filing station is situated, has since been cordoned off by the military and police operatives as motorists were only allowed to use one lane.

Also, at Agbani Road, a police van was stationed inside the filing station as combat-ready policemen were seen around the place.
