“Army Chief Shaibu Promises Improved Security for Nigerians”

VOP NG reports that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has assured Nigerians of enhanced security nationwide, emphasizing that ongoing military operations are producing positive results.

The reassurance comes amid growing concerns over the country’s security, particularly following threats of military action by U.S. President Donald Trump over alleged attacks on Christians in Nigeria—a claim the Nigerian government has consistently denied.

Lt. Gen. Shaibu made the remarks on Tuesday after briefing President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.

“I came to brief him on the outcome of my visit to the Northeast region and to assess other security situations across the country, which was satisfactory during this period,” Shaibu said.

He noted that his recent tour of the Northeast theatre and evaluations of security operations nationwide revealed “encouraging progress,” highlighting stronger coordination among security agencies and sustained pressure on criminal networks as key factors behind the improvements.

When asked what Nigerians should expect in the coming weeks, the Army Chief confidently stated:

“They should look out for improved security across the country.”

Shaibu’s remarks are intended to reassure citizens at a time when apprehension has grown over the country’s security landscape, especially following President Trump’s warning of potential U.S. military intervention.

“The overall security situation within the period under review remains satisfactory,” Shaibu said, stressing that the army is committed to maintaining stability and protecting lives and property across Nigeria.
