Arsenal have completed the signing of Dutch defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax in a move set to bolster Mikel Arteta’s backline ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign. The highly-rated 18-year-old joins for a reported £34 million, signing a long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.
Hato, known for his composure, ball-playing ability, and versatility, had attracted interest from several European giants, but Arsenal moved swiftly to wrap up the deal. He is expected to slot into Arteta’s rotation alongside William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are reportedly in advanced negotiations with Sporting CP over striker Viktor Gyökeres. Talks are ongoing, with Arsenal believed to be preparing an improved offer close to the Swedish international’s €100 million release clause. With Gabriel Jesus facing persistent injury concerns, Arteta is keen to bring in a reliable goal scorer to lead the line.
Elsewhere, the long-running pursuit of Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White remains unresolved. Arsenal’s opening bid was turned down last month, and Forest are holding firm on their £60 million valuation. The player is believed to be open to the move, but no agreement has been reached.
With the summer transfer window heating up, Arsenal’s activity signals clear intent: strengthen across the pitch and challenge Manchester City for the title.
