Atiku Spokesperson Says PDP’s Refusal to Sanction Wike is a Wrong Signal

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP 2023 presidential campaign council, Daniel Bwala, has said the party may have itself to blame if it fails to address alleged anti-party activities by former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Nyesom Wike.

Bwala, in an interview  in Abuja yesterday, said many party chieftains were waiting to see how the party’s leadership would handle Wike for his deeds and utterances against the party.

He noted that he had formerly said  Wike is being used by President Bola Tinubu to weaken the PDP in order to push for a one-party state, but some people dismissed the notion.

He exclaimed that If the leadership of the PDP does not urgently deal with Wike, PDP chieftains nationwide will form a coalition with Labour Party, other parties and some All Progressives Congress, APC elements from the North-West to form an indomitable party that would wrestle power from the APC; that is if the Supreme Court agrees with the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal judgment.

Similarly, the Director of Research and Planning in the Campaign Council, Pedro Obaseki, told newsmen that the leaders of the party had expected Wike to show remorse.

He urged the leadership of the party to come out in defense of the PDP.

Before now, he said many party stakeholders had thought that Wike would realize the errors of his ways and show some remorse.

However, Wike’s continuous utterances have shown that he is not repentant about all he did against the PDP and it is about time he is told that no individual is bigger than the party.

Although he noted that he is not an official of the party but was a campaign consultant to the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as such, that stands him in a vantage position to speak on this issue.

He noted that Wike must be told that there are consequences for going against the provisions of the PDP constitution.

He further stated that If the leadership of the party fails to speak up, they would be sending a message to people with the mind of Wike that there are exceptions to rules within the party.

Also, a leader of the PDP, Borno State Chapter, Mustapha Shehu, noted that the exit of Wike from the party was certain, adding that the court injunction which previously made his dismissal an impossible task was no longer valid.

Wike had boasted that nobody in the party could discipline him, and that he should be the one calling for sanction against those who violated the party’s constitution on zoning.
