Members of the former Rivers State People’s Democratic Party, PDP, presidential campaign council in the 2023 general elections have declared their support for President Bola Tinubu.
The group also said it was solidly behind the Rivers State Governor, Siminilayi Fubara as the leader of the PDP in the state.
Addressing a press conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State today, the former director general of the PDP campaign council, Dr. Abiye Sekibo said they decided to declare support for President Tinubu and Governor Fubara after a meeting of the leadership of the former Rivers State PDP Presidential Campaign Council and members of the PDP in Rivers State.
Present at the briefing were Uche Secondus; former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Austin Opara; Celestine Omehia, former Deputy governor of the state, Tele Ikuru; Senator Lee Maeba; and former Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. Gabriel Pidomson. among others.
The council supported the PDP presidential candidate in 2023, Atiku Abubakar in last year’s elections.
Sekibo noted that since Siminalayi Fubara was elected democratically as Governor of Rivers State, and also confirmed by the Supreme Court, as indigenes of Rivers State, they have no choice but to give the Governor total loyalty and support for the progress of the State.
He therfore urged the Governor and the President to work together for the good of Rivers state people.
He also noted that with the elections over, now is the time for real governance for the progress of the nation
