AUSTICA MEMORIAL COLLEGE, NANKA INAUGRATES 2024/25 ACADEMIC YEAR, INVESTES NEW STUDENTS AND SENDS OFF HER LATEST GRADUATES

The Proprietor, Management, staff, students and parents of AUSTICA Memorial college Nanka all gathered today in the school premise to inaugurate the 2024/25 academic year. The event began with a votive mass of the Holy Spirit presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia diocese and the Proprietor of the college, His Eminence Peter Ebere Cardinal Okpaleke.

His Eminence in his homily invited all present to join hands in making anew the face of the earth. This invite is a call to action on all who call on the Spirit of God as was done during the mass, for it is only when one accepts this invite that the Spirit of God gives such a person the power and grace to live a good and fulfilled life.

Admonishing the students, both old and new, Cardinal Okpaleke said, ‘you are not just here to study and leave, here are here to be given a holistic formation, one that cuts across all aspects of your life – spiritual, moral, academic, civic, and otherwise.’ He called on them to always invite the Spirit of God to come and fill their hearts so that they can learn all they are being taught, and receive the formation they are given in good faith.

To the teachers he said, ‘the education system has changed. The focus is now on the students and not on the teachers.’ He challenged them to put in their best at work and remain in prayer even as they discharge their duties.

More so, the Cardinal called on the parents and guardians to stand for their children and wards in all situation and be for them towers of strength. He equally urged them to avoid destroying their kids with negative words since such words damage their mindset and diminish their morale.

In furtherance, the Cardinal vested the new students with their school uniform and charged them to dispose themselves for the formation which they have come to receive. He equally initiated the latest graduates into the alumni body of the college. Addressing them, he congratulated them for the feat they have achieved and urged them to hold high the morals they gathered as students of AUSTICA memorial college.

Present at the event was the Anambra State Commissioner of Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh who unveiled the board of recognition of students who excelled in academics and morals in the last academic year. Speaking to the students, she congratulated those who performed exceptionally during the last academic year and admonished the rest of the students to strive to excel beyond average. She urged all the students to remain resilient in pursuing their goals.

The Highpoints of the event were the Holy Mass, the investiture of the new students, initiation of the latest graduates into the A-Boys Alumni, unveiling of the recognition board and presentation of awards to those who were exceptional in the last academic year, both in academics and morals.
