The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Wase, on Wednesday paid a maiden visit to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Air Training Command (ATC) in Kaduna.
Wase, who also serves as Commander of Sector 1, Operation Fasin Yamma, said the visit was aimed at strengthening cooperation and boosting operational efficiency in the division’s area of responsibility.
Received by the Air Officer Commanding (AOC), ATC, AVM Ahmed Dari, the GOC stressed that the air component of Operation Fasin Yamma was a crucial force multiplier in the fight against banditry and other security threats.
“The air component plays a significant role in ensuring that our missions are brought to a logical conclusion in favour of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” Wase said.
In his response, AVM Dari pledged continued support, assuring that the Air Force would sustain its contributions to ensure operational success in the theatre.
The Voice of the People (VOP) reports that Wase also visited troops within the division’s area of responsibility, including 1 Division Garrison, 71 Supply and Transport Brigade, and 2 Battalion.
Addressing the troops, the GOC urged professionalism in the conduct of operations and assured them of improved welfare, noting that entitlements would be provided as and when due.
