The Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions, ASSBIFI, has suspended its stay-at-home order issued to members at the weekend.

It however advised a shutdown of activities in the event of any threat without visible protection, and asked members to move to safe locations until their safety can be guaranteed.

The union said it took the decision after a meeting of its Central Working Committee to review engagements it had with stakeholders and to implement decisions reached during the meetings.

You will recall that the union had  issued a stay-at-home order last week following attacks on its members, other bank workers, and the destruction of bank facilities across the country, in order to safeguard its member’s lives and properties of their organisations.

A statement by the National President of the association, Olusoji Oluwole, noted that while members will resume at their functional branches immediately, the safety and security of their lives remain paramount , and the association continues to demand that visible and adequate security is provided in all operational areas, particularly places that are traditionally known to be volatile
