Barr. Elimihele: Wike Will Support Tinubu Again for Southern Presidency

Abuja — Political analyst and lawyer, Barrister Elvis Elimihele, has expressed confidence that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, noting that Wike has consistently advocated for power to remain in the South.

Speaking during a program on VOP TV, Elimihele said Wike’s political choices have always reflected his long-held belief in equity and regional balance, especially regarding the rotation of power between the North and South.

“Wike will back Tinubu in 2027 — he’s always maintained his stand for Southern presidency,” Elimihele stated.

He explained that Wike’s political decisions since 2023, including his role in the G5 governors’ alliance and his support for a southern candidate, align with his principled stance on national fairness rather than mere party loyalty.

According to Elimihele, Wike’s influence within and beyond the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could play a major role in shaping the political landscape ahead of 2027, especially as alliances and realignments continue to form.

“Wike has shown that he puts regional stability above personal interest. He believes the South should complete its term before power rotates again,” he added.

Analysts say Wike’s relationship with the Tinubu administration has sparked speculation of a cross-party alliance, especially given his appointment and visible cooperation with the federal government.

Elimihele, however, noted that Nigerian politics remains fluid and unpredictable, but Wike’s track record suggests that his decisions are often guided by his sense of balance, loyalty to the South, and national cohesion.
