The Abia State Government has announced the appointment of Mr. Benson Ojeikere as the new Head of Service for the state’s civil service.
Mr. Ojeikere, who hails from Edo State, brings decades of dedication and experience to the role. He began his career in Abia after completing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state, where he earned recognition as the best Youth Corps member of his cohort. This distinction led to an automatic employment offer from the state government at the time.
Over the years, Mr. Ojeikere has demonstrated exceptional commitment, steadily ascending the ranks within the civil service. He was also recognized as one of the top performers in the Permanent Secretary examination category, underscoring his suitability for leadership. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Permanent Secretary in the Abia State Government House.
The Abia State administration, in a statement, emphasized its commitment to reforming governance and creating a merit-based civil service where excellence is prioritized over mediocrity. Officials expressed confidence in Mr. Ojeikere’s ability to lead the civil service and called on Permanent Secretaries and other civil servants to offer him their full support.
The government also extended its gratitude to the outgoing Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Queen Obioma, for her exemplary leadership and significant contributions to the civil service during her tenure.
Mr. Ojeikere’s appointment signals a new chapter in the administration’s efforts to strengthen governance and promote meritocracy in Abia State.
