Benue Governor Reacted on President Tinubu’s Order to Arrest Armed Herders and Bandits

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for ordering the arrest of armed herders and bandits responsible for terrorizing communities in Benue and other parts of the country.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Tersoo Kula, and shared with journalists in Makurdi, Governor Alia praised the President’s timely intervention and commitment to restoring peace and security in the region.

He noted that President Tinubu’s presence and support during a difficult time had provided hope and strength to the people of Benue State.

“We deeply appreciate your commitment to addressing the security challenges, particularly your directive to the Chief of Defence Staff and the Inspector General of Police,” the governor said.

“Your decisive action to neutralise the threats posed by armed herders reassures us that our safety and the return of our farmers to their lands are priorities for your administration.”

Governor Alia also thanked the President for his visit to Benue in the wake of the recent violence, especially the tragic attacks in Yelwata town. He further extended his gratitude to the Progressive Governors’ Forum, led by Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, for standing in solidarity with the state during its time of crisis.

“The collective efforts of Mr. President and my fellow governors reflect a united stance against violence and a shared dedication to the safety and well-being of all Nigerians,” he added.

Governor Alia affirmed that the people of Benue take solace in the leadership and compassion shown by President Tinubu, the governors, and other patriotic Nigerians. He assured citizens of his administration’s commitment to working with all critical stakeholders to rebuild affected communities and restore lasting peace in the state.
