Awka, Anambra State – St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Awka, witnessed a solemn and historic occasion on Saturday, December 28, 2024, as the Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, rededicated the church building following a significant renovation. The renovation was spearheaded by Hon. Chudi Offodile and his family in loving memory of their parents, Chief Chris and Mrs. Priscilla Offodile.


The rededication ceremony began with a Pontifical Holy Mass celebrated by Bishop Ezeokafor, who commended the Offodile family and other contributors for their dedication and generosity. He also acknowledged Engr. Prince Arthur Eze and Chief Augustine Ndigwe for their pivotal roles in the original construction of the church.

Addressing the congregation, Bishop Ezeokafor expressed his satisfaction with the renovations, describing the upgrades as a fitting tribute to God’s glory. He urged parishioners to not only cherish the physical structure of the church but also strive to make their bodies true temples of the Holy Spirit.

The event, attended by a large gathering of priests, religious men and women, politicians, and parishioners, featured the planting of a rededication tree by the Bishop as a symbolic gesture. Another highlight was the presentation of awards of excellence to key contributors, including Hon. Chudi Offodile, who was honored with the title Ide of St. Peter’s.
