Bishop Ezeokafor Urges Christians to Live Their Faith as St. Felix’s Parish, Nise, Celebrates Episcopal Visit After 10 Years

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has paid a historic visit to St. Felix’s Parish, Nise, in Awka South Local Government Area, marking a decade since his last episcopal visit to the parish.

The two-day event, held on January 11th and 12th, 2025, was filled with significant activities, including the presentation of awards to the parish’s pioneer faith leaders and an economic empowerment initiative. As part of the empowerment program, four members of the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) received N100,000 each in seed capital to start businesses.

During the Holy Mass that concluded the occasion, Bishop Ezeokafor expressed satisfaction with the parish’s development and commended the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Dr. Joel Okechukwu, alongside parishioners, for their dedication and contributions.

Reflecting on the day’s feast, the Bishop reminded Christians of Jesus Christ’s humility in undergoing baptism as an example for believers. He urged the faithful to live out their faith and called on parents to raise their children in the ways of the Lord, lamenting the rise of baptized individuals who engage in neopaganism.

Addressing pressing concerns within the Church, Bishop Ezeokafor spoke on interfaith marriages, burial rites, and the high cost of Catholic mission school fees. He also administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 150 candidates, further strengthening the parish’s spiritual community.

The event attracted numerous dignitaries, including priests, religious leaders, and community figures. Present were the Chancellor of the Diocese, Rev. Fr. Charles Ndubuisi; the Dean of Amawbia Deanery, Rev. Fr. Mike Onwukike; and the Director of Fides Media Ltd., Rev. Fr. Dr. Robert Anagboso. Also in attendance were the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sir Chukwuma Okoye (represented by Hon. Lawrence Chukwuma), the Traditional Ruler of Nise, Igwe R. N. Iloh, and the President General of Nise Town Union, Chief Tony Nwabuona.
