The Catholic Diocese of Awka was filled with joy and thanksgiving as Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor celebrated 40 years of dedicated service in the Priestly Ministry. The event, held amidst a gathering of clergy, religious, and lay faithful, highlighted the Bishop’s unwavering commitment to God’s work and his gratitude for the immense grace that has sustained him through the years.

Reflecting on his journey, Bishop Ezeokafor quoted Hebrews 5:4, “No one takes this honor on himself, but he receives it when called by God, just as Aaron was,” emphasizing the divine calling and support that have defined his four decades in ministry. “When I look back and inward on all that God’s grace has enabled me to achieve in these 40 years, I am thrilled by God’s love for me. God is so faithful!” he shared with deep emotion.
The celebration, attended by clergy, government officials, and friends of the diocese, was a testament to the Bishop’s impactful service. In his remarks, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported him, including priests, consecrated men and women, the lay faithful, and his family. Special recognition was given to his brother bishop, Most Rev. Denis Chidi Isizoh, for his encouraging presence and words.
Bishop Ezeokafor also acknowledged key contributors to the anniversary celebrations. He thanked Rev. Fr. Hilary BenEzenwa and the Anniversary Committee, Chief Sir Victor Umeh as the Chairman of the occasion, Anambra State Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, and Sir Paul Chukwuma, who unveiled his commemorative book, Pastoral Imprints in the Sands of Time.

The Bishop reiterated that proceeds from the celebration would be dedicated to the diocesan project at Isiagu. This initiative aims to create a serene environment for prayer and spiritual nourishment, reflecting the Bishop’s enduring commitment to fostering spiritual growth within the diocese.
“Gratitude is my attitude,” the Bishop remarked, summing up his appreciation for the overwhelming support and love shown to him. The celebration not only marked a milestone in his priestly journey but also served as a moment of reflection and renewal for all who attended.
