Blackout as TCN Workers Shut Down National Grid Following Labour Strike

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has announced the complete shutdown of Nigeria’s power grid by labour unions as the strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC begins.

The labour unions commenced a nationwide industrial action today in protest against the N60,000 minimum wage proposal of the Federal Government.

Announcing the shutdown of the national power grid in a statement issued this morning, TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah saidf the transmission firm’s action was deliberately done by the workers.

On the power generating side, TCN said the power generating units from different generating stations were forced to shut down some units of their generating plants.
