Boko Haram: Four Days After, Electricity Restored in Damaturu

Residents of Damaturu, the Yobe State capital yesterday heaved a sigh of relief following the restoration of electricity four days after a power outage occasioned by the destruction of electricity towers by Boko Haram insurgents.

You will recall that last Thursday in Katsaita village in Damaturu LGA, insurgents destroyed two towers and cut off Damaturu, Maiduguri from the national grid in Gombe State, a development that crippled households, businesses and water vendors and compelled many residents to resort to generators as an alternative power source.

The electricity was restored in the city by the Yobe State Rural Electrification Board (REB) in collaboration with the Yola Electricity Distribution Company on Sunday.
