Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has raised a serious alarm over the worsening security situation in Marte Local Government Area, warning that Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents are dangerously close to taking full control of the region.
According to Zulum, only one town in the entire LGA remains under government control. Should it fall, the entire Marte LGA could be lost to the terrorists.
“This is a critical moment,” the governor warned, calling on the Federal Government and military authorities to act swiftly and decisively. He urged for a renewed and sustained military operation to push back the insurgents and reclaim lost territories.
Recent months have seen a troubling increase in militant attacks targeting both civilians and security outposts across Borno, raising fears of a resurgence in insurgent dominance.
warning highlights the urgent need for stronger security strategies and coordinated efforts to restore stability in the northeast, as the region continues to battle the threat of extremist violence.
