Maiduguri, Borno State – The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the deaths of two individuals found with their throats slit in separate incidents across the state capital.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Nahum Daso, the victims, identified as Rifkatu Yohanna and Muhammed Ibrahim Saje, were discovered hours apart under horrifying circumstances that have alarmed residents.
The first incident occurred in the early hours of December 3, 2025, in Shuwari II. Rifkatu Yohanna was found in her room with a deep slit across her neck and multiple cuts on her body. Neighbours who discovered her alerted security operatives, and she was rushed to the State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, where she was confirmed dead on arrival. Her body has been deposited in the hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
A suspect, Salisu Mohammed Nura, popularly known as Aliyas Amir, has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently being interrogated by detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Hours later, another body was discovered in the GRA Division. A green Honda Civic with registration number GUB 142GB was found abandoned in a secluded area of Modari Polo. Inside the vehicle lay the lifeless body of a man, later identified as Muhammed Ibrahim Saje, whose throat had been slit. Investigators believe the crime scene may have gone unnoticed for over 24 hours. An ATM card and car documents recovered at the scene aided in the identification of the victim.
Both cases have now been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for in-depth investigation.
Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, has ordered heightened patrols and intelligence operations across Maiduguri and other parts of Borno, warning perpetrators of violent crimes to desist. He stressed the command’s determination to ensure that those responsible face the full weight of the law.
