The Oyo State Fire Services Agency, under the leadership of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform and Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, has successfully rescued a 68-year-old man who fell into a deep well while trying to retrieve his lost phone.
The incident occurred at the Mobolorunduro Mosque in the Molefalafia area of Oke-Ado, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. According to reports, the man, unaware of the dangers involved, entered the well without proper training or equipment.
In a statement issued in Ibadan, Hon. Moroof Akinwande confirmed the rescue and emphasized that the incident resulted from the man’s attempt to recover his phone without understanding the risks associated with entering a well.
A team of fire service personnel, led by Assistant Chief Fire Superintendent Mrs. Adedeji, responded swiftly to the emergency. Upon arrival, they found the man trapped deep inside the well.
“The firemen acted quickly, securing all necessary safety equipment and taking appropriate precautions,” the statement read. “The man was successfully rescued alive and safely handed over to his family for medical attention and care.”
Hon. Akinwande used the opportunity to advise the public to avoid engaging in potentially life-threatening actions and to seek professional help in emergencies.
