Breaking | Police Recover Stolen Vehicles, Arrest Eight Suspects in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has recovered multiple stolen vehicles and arrested eight suspects in separate operations across the state, according to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, on Tuesday.

Hassan disclosed that on April 24, the Command received credible intelligence that a victim of an armed robbery had sighted his stolen vehicle—a Peugeot (Fiat)—and was discreetly trailing it. The vehicle had been forcefully snatched at gunpoint along the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway on December 17, 2024, alongside N3.25 million in cash.

“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit led a tactical team to Kujama, where two suspects were arrested in possession of the said vehicle,” Hassan said.

The suspects, identified as Christian Allemo and Uchenna Ike, both residents of Kujama, claimed during interrogation that they purchased the vehicle from an unknown individual. The suspects and the recovered vehicle are in custody as investigations continue to trace others involved in the crime.

In a separate incident, the police received a distress alert on April 24 around 9:20 p.m. from the Control Room about a stolen Mitsubishi Hilux reportedly taken from Abuja and heading toward the Kawo area of Kaduna.

Responding promptly, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kawo deployed patrol and surveillance teams that successfully blocked Unguwan Gwari, leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicle. The suspect, however, abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Efforts are ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing individual.

Hassan further disclosed that on April 12, a good Samaritan from Dangote Company reported that a truck loaded with 900 bags of cement had departed Dangote Cement Plant in Obajana on April 6 en route to Maiduguri, but had not been seen since, and the driver’s phone was unreachable.

Following an intensive search, the missing truck was discovered parked inside a garage in Maraban, Jos. The DPO led a team to the location, resulting in the arrest of one Abdulfatai Abubakar, who confessed to purchasing the truck from a man identified as Aliyu Abdulrahman, also known as Dan’Ali, in Anguwan Muazu.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of five more suspects and the recovery of another stolen Dangote truck.

All suspects and recovered exhibits remain in police custody as investigations progress.

Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, commended the officers for their swift and effective actions. He reiterated the command’s commitment to enhancing visibility policing and cracking down on criminal elements across the state.
