Popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker Broda Shaggy, whose real name is Samuel Perry, has been hospitalized after allegedly sustaining a gunshot injury while filming a comedy skit in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday afternoon under the Sango-Ota bridge while the comedian was working with his crew on a skit production. Sources said the entertainer was injured during the shoot, though the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.
He was immediately taken to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos, where he received initial treatment before being referred to Duchess Hospital in the Government Residential Area of Ikeja for further medical care.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the hospital alerted authorities after a gunshot victim was brought to the facility. Officers who responded reportedly found the injured comedian on a stretcher with a gunshot wound to his thigh.
Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi said the incident occurred in Sango-Ota, which falls outside the jurisdiction of the Lagos command, adding that inquiries were ongoing.
However, the Ogun State Police Command said the incident had not yet been officially reported in the state as of the time of filing this report.
