On Sunday, November 10, 2024, Bubendorff Memorial Grammar School in Adazi-Nnukwu, Anambra State, was Abuzz with celebration As Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Chukwuemeka Ezeokafor, The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Paid A pastoral Visit to the School.
The event drew notable figures, including former Governor and 2023 Labour Party Presidential Candidate Sir Peter Obi, Diocesan Chancellor Rev. Fr. Charles Ndubuisi, Bishop’s Secretary Rev. Fr. Evaristus Ifeanacho, Diocesan Education Secretary Rev. Fr. Maximus Okonkwo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Paul University Prof. Chinyere Okunna, and Dr. Uche Okeke of the Anambra State Post Primary School Service Commission. The gathering also included Catholic priests, academics, politicians, and alumni.
The day began with a Holy Mass led by Bishop Ezeokafor, who emphasized the importance of thanksgiving and generosity in his homily. He expressed gratitude to the school’s management and supporters, particularly Senator Victor Umeh, for their contributions to the school’s development. The Bishop called for continued support from parents, alumni, and the public, urging teachers to be both educators and mentors, and advising students to be disciplined and obedient.
The event, chaired by Chief Theo Afunwa, featured the confirmation of 223 young Catholics, the laying of the foundation stone for a new building, and the commissioning of a borehole and a beautified school front.
