A devoted supporter of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Sirajo Yazid-Abukur, has pledged a total of N1 million to the labourers who dug his grave at his residence in Daura, Katsina State.
Yazid-Abukur, who serves as the Managing Director of the Katsina State Roads Maintenance Agency (KASSROMA), made the announcement on Thursday in response to a viral video featuring the grave diggers.
According to him, the team leader of the burial crew, Malam Muhammad Ali, will receive N500,000, while the remaining two members will each be given N250,000.
He explained that he had already reached out to the men and hopes the funds will serve as seed capital for small businesses, enabling them to support themselves and their families.
Yazid-Abukur also commended Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State for his active participation and concern before, during, and after the burial of the late former president. He praised the governorโs humility, loyalty, and leadership for being physically involved in the funeral proceedings.
In his remarks, Yazid-Abukur prayed for the forgiveness of Buhariโs shortcomings and asked Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.
