A business executive, Chief Jonathan Nzekwe, has called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to ensure effective public enlightenment on its economic policies, particularly those affecting Point of Sale (POS) transaction charges and the use of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).
Speaking to ABS on the newly introduced economic guidelines, Chief Nzekwe stressed the need for policies that do not further burden the masses. He urged the government to implement measures that enhance economic stability and improve citizens’ living standards.
Regarding the proposed 50% increase in telecommunications tariffs, Chief Nzekwe advocated for a downward review. He warned that any hike in the sector would have a ripple effect on businesses and worsen economic hardship for Nigerians.
He reiterated the importance of transparent communication from policymakers to ensure that citizens are well-informed and not caught off guard by sudden financial regulations.
