Chelsea Football Club have been charged by the Football Association (FA) with 74 breaches of its Agent Regulation rules spanning from 2009 to 2022, a period that covers the ownership of Roman Abramovich.
According to the FA, the alleged breaches involve the club’s dealings with player representatives during transfers and contract negotiations. While full details of the violations are yet to be made public, the governing body said the matter is now with an independent commission for review.
Chelsea, now owned by Todd Boehly’s consortium, said it is cooperating fully with the investigation. The club stressed that the alleged breaches occurred before the current ownership took over in 2022.
Football analysts say the charges could lead to fines, transfer restrictions, or other disciplinary actions if Chelsea are found guilty. The case also revives broader debates about transparency in football transfers and the influence of agents in the sport.
