China has condemned Israeli airstrikes targeting Hamas leadership in Doha, Qatar, and called for renewed ceasefire negotiations to end the ongoing war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian, speaking in Beijing on Wednesday, said China was “deeply concerned” about rising tensions and criticised “certain sides” for undermining efforts to secure a truce in Gaza.
He urged all parties, “especially Israel,” to intensify efforts toward resuming dialogue.
The strikes, carried out on Tuesday against Hamas officials in the Qatari capital, came amid mounting Israeli pressure on Qatar to close Hamas’ political office — a demand Doha has resisted, citing its mediation role.
Israel has consistently targeted Hamas leaders since the Gaza conflict erupted in October 2023.
