A container-laden truck overturned on Ojuelegba Bridge, inward National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, on Tuesday, causing traffic disruption but leaving no casualties, authorities have confirmed.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said the incident involved a 40-foot container truck which reportedly lost balance while descending the bridge and fell on its side, blocking the inward carriageway.
Despite the severity of the accident, no life was lost and no injuries were recorded, a development LASTMA described as fortunate given the busy nature of the route.
Following the incident, LASTMA officials swiftly moved to the scene to manage traffic and prevent further accidents. Motorists approaching the area from Fadeyi and Onipan were diverted through the service lane toward Barracks and Funsho Williams Avenue to ease congestion.
Recovery operations were immediately activated to remove the fallen truck and container, while officers maintained order and ensured the safety of road users.
LASTMA advised motorists to remain patient and comply with traffic diversions, assuring the public that efforts were ongoing to restore free flow of traffic as soon as possible.
The authority also reiterated calls for truck drivers to ensure proper loading and adherence to safety regulations, especially when navigating bridges and major highways in the state.
