Hon. Opeyemi David Falegan has faulted the choice of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital for the wedding of the daughter of the Ekiti State governor Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
Falegan, who is the founder of Opeyemi David Falegan Foundation in a statement said through his action, Oyebanji literarily promoted capital fight and denied the people of Ekiti the socio-economic gains that would have accrued from the big event.
He also alleged that the decision of Oyebanji to hold his daughter’s wedding at Ibadan showed that the governor had nothing to show his colleagues as his achievements in office.
“So you people expect Ekiti Governor to do his daughter’s wedding in Ekiti? You all know there is no accessible road, airport and water in Ekiti so which road would people use to access the state. Oyebanji’s daughter’s wedding at Ibadan shows his love for Ekiti people.
Falegan called on the entire good people of Ekiti state to open their eyes wide and see how much the current Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji loves them.
Falegan frowned at the inabilities of the governor to concentrate on developmental projects rather, he was alleged busy inducing people and associations to anoint him for second term in office.
He added that, people should see that, there is no infrastructures to show for the huge allocation received within the accused period of time.
Falegan urged Ekiti people to beware of the second time bid of Oyebanji, adding he was too desperate about his second term bid rather than adding value to the state economically. He warned civil servants and politicians to stop drumming high scores for him.
Meanwhile, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former member of the House of Representatives, Bimbo Daramola has cautioned against making issue out of the governor’s daughter’s wedding.
Daramola said “We can take the Governor on and we should at different times but not tied to the day of joy of these innocent young people just starting their lives as a couple, that won’t be fair to my mind.
“In any case since when did the hosting of the marriage of the Governor’s daughter in the state become a political achievement to be celebrated?
“So if the wedding was held in Ekiti, everybody will now like and accept Governor Oyebanji? No, infact a different spin and narrative will come out of that.”
“So for me the dragging of the Father of the bride into a needless politically motivated diatribe because he is a governor about the choice of location for the venue of his daughter’s and son in law’s wedding has been played up to almost mask the day of joy of the core, primary and main persons at the centre of yesterday’s event, who ordinarily we should be celebrating and rejoicing with for a journey that has culminated in such a day that everyone and parent desires” Daramola said.
