Corps Members in Anambra Engage in Inter-Platoon Drill Competition/Vop

Corps members undergoing the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Mbaukwu/Umuawulu, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, showcased their skills in a highly competitive inter-platoon drill competition.


Ten platoons participated in the event, displaying precision in both quick and slow march to the admiration of camp officials and guests.

Addressing the participants, the Anambra State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Blessing Iruma, described the drill competition as a crucial aspect of the corps members’ training. She emphasized its role in building discipline, leadership abilities, and overall capacity.

Camp Commandant, Captain Yakubu Suleman, highlighted the significance of parades in demonstrating the readiness and coordination of a unit. He noted that the rigorous training corps members received during the orientation course had better equipped them for their service year.


Speaking on his experience, Mr. Ozioma Okonkwo, a corps member from Enugu State and a Business Education graduate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, expressed enthusiasm about the orientation program. He affirmed his readiness to serve in Anambra State.

At the end of the competition, Platoon Nine claimed victory, securing first place, while Platoon One and Platoon Ten finished in second and third positions, respectively.

The event concluded with an award ceremony, where trophies were presented to the top-performing platoons amid celebrations from the winners.
