Court Grants Emefiele N300m Bail

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT in Maitama has granted bail to former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele.

He was granted bail in the sum of N300 million.

In a ruling today, Justice Hamza Muazu held that Emefiele should produce two sureties, who must have landed property in the Maitama District of the FCT.

Emefiele is mandated to deposit all his travel documents with the registrar of the court and must remain within the Abuja Municipal Council.

He is also expected to remain in Kuje Correctional Centre pending when he meets the bail conditions.

This comes four months after the Federal High Court Sitting in Lagos granted him bail of N20 million.

Another FCT High Court had two weeks ago ordered his release in a fundamental human rights suit he instituted against the federal government.

The court adjourned till November 28 for the commencement of trial.
