The police on Friday arraigned two brothers, Mohammed Oseni (43) and Yunusa Oseni (45), before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan over alleged land grabbing.
The defendants, whose residential addresses were not disclosed, faced charges of conspiracy, forcible entry, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. Both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Adeshina Folaranmi, the alleged offences occurred in 2024 at Yemetu, Ibadan. He told the court that the brothers unlawfully entered a parcel of land belonging to Mrs. Dolapo Adeosun, inherited from her late father, and subsequently barred her from accessing the property.
Folaranmi stated that the defendants’ actions were likely to provoke public disturbance.
The offences, he said, contravene Sections 516, 81, and 249(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Magistrate Oluwabusayo Osho granted bail to the defendants in the sum of ₦500,000 each, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case to June 18 for hearing.
