Chairmen and Secretaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the 16 local government areas of Kano South Senatorial District have jointly appealed to Senator Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila to return to the party.
Speaking at a press conference held in Albasu town on Tuesday, the APC Chairman of Albasu Local Government Area, Iliyasu Hungu, made the appeal on behalf of his fellow chairmen, secretaries, and ward leaders.
Senator Sumaila, who currently represents Kano South in the Senate, is a member of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). The APC leaders, however, expressed their desire to see him rejoin the APC, citing his influence and contributions to the political landscape of Kano.
“There is no doubt that Senator Sumaila would bring immense value to our great party if he answers our call and returns to the APC,” Hungu said. “He has the capacity to unify and strengthen the party in Kano South.”
Hungu praised Sumaila’s inclusive approach to politics, noting that he extends goodwill to politicians across party lines. “This is the kind of leadership the APC needs. We are, therefore, appealing to our serving and former APC lawmakers from Kano South, the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, and the APC State Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, to help us reach out and persuade Senator Sumaila to consider our request.”
The APC leaders expressed confidence that Sumaila’s return would boost the party’s standing and help galvanize support ahead of future elections.
“Senator Sumaila is a committed leader who has always invested his energy and resources in the development and well-being of his constituents,” Hungu added. “He has no equal in Kano South, and we sincerely miss his presence in our party. We would be delighted if he rejoined the APC.”
